Application Maintenance
Each time you close 'Personal Inventory' a compressed back up copy of your data is archived.
If you have stored your pictures for the application in the recommended folder,
(c:\My Programs\TrialInventory\Pictures\) a copy of these is also taken.
By default your compressed archived data is stored on your hard drive at:
C:\InventoryStore\InventoryArchive.zip.
Your pictures are stored in C:\InventoryStore\Pictures\
If your computer is able to write to a CD-ROM you should copy and save these files
periodically to a CD-ROM so that you have a back up, using your CD creation software.
You can also copy these files to any other storage medium such as a memory stick.
You will probably never need to use this archived data, but nevertheless, keep it safe.
If you need to restore your data you can do it by copying the InventoryArchive.zip
from your CD-ROM to C:\InventoryStore\ (Create the folder if you need to)
and the pictures to C:\InventoryStore\Pictures\(Create the folder if you need to)
Make sure that the Personal Inventory application is closed (Otherwise you will get an error).
Highlight the file C:\InventoryStore\InventoryArchive.zip, right click and select 'Extract All'. (If using 'Windows XP')
If you use 'Winzip' or similar follow the program instructions.
This will extract the uncompressed data files and restore them to a readable form.
To restore these files to your Personal Inventory application click the 'Restore' button at the bottom of the screen.
Be aware that this will overwrite any current data.
Log in with your personal details.
You should only need to restore files if your computer has been damaged or lost and you are installing
'Personal Inventory' on a new machine in order to make a claim.
